Lima - Peru finally II
2000-07-31 00:16:00
After an exhausting journey we finally arrived in Lima Peru, and managed to check into a hotel. We were excited to see wether we would manage to meet Odd at the predestined location.

The journey went from Trondheim, Oslo, Amsterdam, New York to Lima. We will in fact not recommend this route to anyone who wants to go to South America. At least avoid to go through United Fucking States of America, it was just a big hassel. Just to pass through the bloody custom took a couple of hours. Just because of this we missed our meeting with our friend Kristine, but at least we managed to see Time Square, and wasted quite a lot of money on transportation.

Finally we arrived in Lima, after a beautiful descent where we really could enjoy the magnificient beauty of the Andes peaks stretching out from the layer of clouds. We then checked into a hotell recommended by the touristinformation at the airport, and we again can recommend others to take advantage of this resource.

After 32 hours travelling, where the socks sort of grows together with the shoes we really needed to freshen up before our planned rendezvous with Odd at the Hacienda Hotel. We showed up and asked for him in the reception, but he was not in his room, and he had not eaten breakfast either. So we sat down in the lobby and waited. After five minutes he came up the stairs with a big smile and the notebookcomputer in his hand. Of course he had been at an internet cafe, to publish some stories. Everything seemed to work as planned, and we then headed for a regular caffe to have something to eat and drink. It was a cozy street cafe.

Odd informed us enthusiastically that he hadn't slept all night. Instead he had been chatting on the internet while drinking Inca Cola, which he assumed contained extracts from the coca leafs. He had felt very awake, and first later he realized that the only refreshing containment in the Inca Cola was caffein. We can nevertheless recommend it to everyone, the taste is good eventhough the colour reminded us of urine samples.

Now we have planned to visit the cetrum of Lima.
